One can't live in England and put together resources for writers without mentioning the Writing Magazine. And, because it's the New Year and in the January issue they include a handy competition guide for the whole year, it's the perfect time to remind you to go and grab a copy!
I've been picking up the magazine at the village shop - or, let's be honest, receiving it as a little surprise (thanks, Henry!) - as and when, but for the sake of the membership perks, I know I will sooner or later actually subscribe. It's a reliable resource for writing tips, author interviews and competitions, including ones for members only.
They also publish the winning stories from their contests, including - in the current (January 2026) issue - Nectarheart, a touching story by our new editor, Chris Morris. (Welcome to London Fog, Chris!)
