Issue III. - Summer 2026
Editor's Note
Welcome to the heatwaves, thunderstorms and rainbows of the season (if you're also experiencing the current British weather) - and of course, Happy Pride Month! Please know that while the rainbow headline is just for our summer issue, we very much welcome submissions from LGBTQIA+ writers, and stories featuring or centering queer themes and characters, all year around. In fact, having grown up in Budapest, where LGBTQIA+ literature has been exiled from bookshop shelves, I want to "balance the scales". So, this is your open invitation to - please and thank you - send those stories our way. We'd love to publish more!
Now, about this issue: with the entire London Fog team juggling busy lives, I decided to only open submissions for two months, to lighten our workload. Despite that, the quality of the submissions we received was the highest on average since we first opened our inbox for submissions last year. I'm both stunned and incredibly grateful, while also feeling a little mean, having to reject some perfectly good stories.
Before we dive in, I'd like to thank Chris for not letting me drown in the slush pile, Nadia and Jen for illustrating the stories beautifully, and every writer who submitted their work for trusting us with their words. For those of you who just missed out on being featured: don't give up on us yet! And for the fantastic five featured: congratulations and thank you for making our first summer issue a truly exceptional one.
Now, let's take a reading break. Make yourself a cup of London Fog and settle down on that bed. Don't move - it creaks, and the painter needs you to be quite still. Once he's done, you can crawl onto your skateboard and propel yourself to meet the spirits. Be not afraid.
